As the holiday season approaches, it is a wonderful time to reflect on the year gone by and to plan for the year ahead. This season, let us embrace intentionality in our savings, spending, and giving. By being mindful of our financial choices, time, and energy, we can enjoy the festivities without the stress of overspending.
Savings and Spending: The holidays often come with a flurry of expenses, from gifts to gatherings. Setting a budget can help manage these costs. Prioritize meaningful experiences over material possessions, and remember that thoughtful, handmade gifts can be just as cherished as store-bought ones.
Last week, I had the pleasure of spending time at the Tzu Chi Foundation with my friend Faeeza Lok (pictured above). This experience was incredibly nourishing for my soul, and I immediately recognized the profound impact they have on communities. I encourage you to check them out! I will be dedicating more of my time and energy to the foundation in 2025, volunteering and supporting their amazing work.
Giving: The spirit of the season is about giving, but it does not always have to be monetary. Volunteering your time, offering your skills, or simply being there for someone in need can make a significant impact. Consider supporting local charities or causes that resonate with you.
Relaxation: Amidst the hustle and bustle, it is crucial to take time to relax and recharge. The holidays can be a perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy the company of loved ones, and practice self-care. Whether it's a quiet evening with a good book or a peaceful walk in nature, find what helps you unwind.
Books I am reading: This season, I am diving into some inspiring reads. Here are a few on my list:
The Power of the Heart by Shih Cheng Yen - the founder of the Tzu Chi Foundation -Was gifted to me by Frank from the Tzu Chi Foundation
Atomic Habits by James Clear - A great guide on building good habits and breaking bad ones.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - A timeless tale about following your dreams.
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese - "A deeply moving and immersive novel that resonates with readers long after the final page." _ Was gifted to me by my friend Ketso Gordhan
I would love to hear what books you are reading or if you have any recommendations!
Kindness: Lastly, let us remember to be kind to ourselves and others. The holidays can be a stressful time for many, and a little kindness can go a long way. Whether it is a smile, a kind word, or a small act of generosity, let us spread positivity and warmth.
Inspirational Song: To keep the spirits high, here is an inspirational song that lifts me up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAchEj7Yg_4. It was Written and Performed by Rachael Schroeder for Fearless Soul.
