The Lyrics - composed by Lynne Holmes from (Desert Rose)
I pray, For our country, My religion is peace
And I pray, for all our people
My religion is love
Together we rise (xa sisonke singa phakama)
Together we will fall (xa sisonke singawa)
Remember who we are (ngithi khumbula)
Remember where we come from (nkosi sikekela)
All of our suffering (intlupheko) and how we overcome
Chorus:
South Africa (Afrika boroa), lay down your arms (a re rapeleng)
There are no winners in war
South Africa (a re tshwaraneng) embrace each other (afrika boroa)
Let’s stand together once more
Afrika boroa ke le hae laka
Ke rapela bana hae
Ke rapela lerato le thato
A re emeng mmokgo
Ndi thandazela umhlaba wethu
Inkolo yam luxolo
Inkolo yam luthando
Khumbula sizwe, khumbula lapho uphuma khona
Inhlupheko yethu, nendlela yengqubeko
Ningizimu Afrika, Masibambaneni
Ayikho impumelelo empini
Ningizimu Afrika, Masibambaneni
Sihlanganeni futhi
Motho ke motho ka batho ba bangwe
All for one and one for all
And I will stand by you
And I will share my life with you
Rise, rise, rise up once more
Rise South Africa
Together we rise
South Africa (Afrika boroa) lay down your arms (a re rapeleng)
There are no winners in war (mzansi Afrika)
South Africa (a re tshwaraneng) embrace each other (re rataneng) (afrika boroa)
Let’s stand together once more
The mission is to spread love and light through music! The reference to war is a metaphor. I believe we need to practice channelling our anger and frustration into productivity and good.
Make this Heritage Day count!
